Featured Project - McGregor Residence

This three storied beachfront home is best described as bespoke, as virtually every element is custom made, tailored specifically. The design features are numerous and include The sandstone circulation wall dissects the pure rectilinear form of the house through three stories. Creating the public space on one side and private spaces on the other.

Elliptical sandstone columns finish just short of floating the living pavilion above - with LED uplights to accentuate the gap. The random angles of these columns question the rectilinear house geometry and hint at the angled sandstone wall intervention. There are hints inlayed in the driveway also.

Hand welted and folded zinc cladding, Vitex decking, a Matai timber floor with a sophisticated monitored underfloor heating system, a solar system charging the heating and hot water, the electrical automation system driving the heating ,ventilating, lighting, security and sound reticulation, the reverse cycle air-conditioning system, the various lighting scenarios the automation allows encourages drama.

The fireplaces internal and external with pizza oven, the solar heated lap pool with a swim jet and backup gas heating, the custom lighting with extensive use of LED's ,the motorised Louvre systems horizontal and vertical plus adjustable retractable exterior Louvre systems to the morning and afternoon decks. These outdoor rooms pre-condition the main pavilion space, the acoustic ceiling and lighting to the media room, the soft self closing sliding internal doors- Italian imported, the cantilevered tapering stair solid Matai stair treads, the tiling, the sound systems, the wine cellar, the kitchen.

All the Interior joinery units are simply beautiful, the master dressing suite and bathrooms are pieces of art. Built with honesty and integrity this house in not pretentious but definitely inspiring, a dream project with fantastic clients.
