This three storied beachfront home is best described as bespoke, as virtually every element is custom made, tailored specifically.
The sandstone wall dissects the pure rectilinear form of the house through three stories, and separates public space from private spaces.
Elliptical sandstone columns finish just short of floating the living pavilion above – with LED uplights to accentuate the gap. The random angles of these columns question the rectilinear house geometry and hint at the angled sandstone wall intervention. There are hints inlayed in the driveway also.
The design features are numerous and include: hand welted and folded zinc cladding, motorised and adjustable louver systems to the morning and afternoon decks, internal fireplace and external with pizza oven, solar heated lap pool with a swim jet and backup gas heating, acoustic ceiling, soft self-closing Italian sliding internal doors, cantilevered tapering stair with solid matai treads, Vitex decking and matai timber floor with a sophisticated monitored underfloor heating system.
The electrical automation system drives the heating, ventilating, lighting, security and sound reticulation and the reverse cycle air-conditioning system. The pre-programmed lighting scenarios allow dramatic staging.
The outdoor rooms pre-condition the main pavilion space. All the Interior joinery units are simply beautiful: the media room unit, wine cellar, kitchen, master dressing suite and bathrooms.
Built with honesty and integrity this house is not pretentious but definitely inspiring, a dream project with fantastic clients.
Bespoke is the best description to the care and attention crafted into this design.
